Volleyball Recap: Braintree Comes Up Short

Braintree came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to the Marshfield Rams. The Wamps were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rams earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

Braintree was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Marshfield work for it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-26, 25-21, 25-19.

Norah Downey paced Braintree's offense, picking up 11 kills. Downey got some help from Zerena Chung and her 22 assists. Downey also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Lauren Caranog, each putting up two.

Braintree's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Marshfield, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.

Braintree will square off against Westwood at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Marshfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
