Football Game Preview: Westwood Panthers vs. Crockett Bulldogs

Westwood is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Friday. After each having a week off, they and the Crockett Bulldogs will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.

Westwood is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped last Friday as they easily beat Mildred 63-26. With the Panthers ahead 36-7 at the half, the game was all but over already.

The critical scores for Westwood came from Sebastian Lathan and Kaysn Dial.

Westwood didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Qashaun Shepard led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Dial got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Crockett had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three last Friday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 41-7 victory over the Longhorns. The matchup marked the Bulldogs' most dominant win of the season.

Crockett now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Westwood, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.

Everything came up roses for Westwood against Crockett when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 63-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
