Basketball Recap: Wirt County Falls Short of Sherman in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Wirt County can now relate to. They fell to the Sherman Tide 48-42. The Tigers' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Wirt County's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braylan Dawson, who posted 18 points. The matchup was Dawson's fourth in a row with at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Hoover, who put up nine points.

Even though they lost, Wirt County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive contests.

Wirt County now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Sherman, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

Wirt County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sherman, they have already played their next match, a 73-34 loss against Tug Valley on the 12th.
