Freeman has no trouble against Shadle Park

The Freeman Scotties have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 20 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Shadle Park with a sharp 65-45 victory on Thursday. Given Freeman's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Shadle Park is ranked 120th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Freeman found their leader in underclassman Micah Hodges, who scored 21 points. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for him. Tanner Goldsmith was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.

The win (which was Freeman's fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.5 points per game. As for Shadle Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Freeman and Deer Park will face off at 5:45 p.m. on January 3, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The timing isn't great for Deer Park: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Freeman has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road. As for Shadle Park, they will face off against Asotin at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Asotin is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
