Basketball Recap: Block Island Comes Up Short

Block Island was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 28th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Ponaganset Chieftains and fell 64-15. Block Island lost against Ponaganset in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 51-28 score last time.

Ponaganset's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Max Eden led the charge by putting up six points along with six boards and five steals. Those six rebounds gave Eden a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luke Pierre-Louis, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 10 points and four steals.

Block Island's loss dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Ponaganset, they pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home.

Block Island has already played their next match, a 56-19 defeat against Blackstone Valley Prep on the 8th. As for Ponaganset, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 75-51 loss against Times Squared Academy on the 10th.
