Football Recap: Bunker Hill Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for Bunker Hill's offense. They were outmatched by the Hickory Red Tornadoes and fell 49-0. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 111th, while the Red Tornadoes are ranked 35th).

Eli Helms threw for 107 yards on eight of 22 attempts. Tae Gaither was his top target, picking up 67 receiving yards.

Hickory's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaheem Jenkins, who rushed for 76 yards and three scores on only eight carries. Another player making a difference was Maddox McRee, who rushed for 47 yards.

Bunker Hill now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Hickory, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Bunker Hill wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 49-0 loss against Maiden on the 12th. As for Hickory, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 42-14 win against Newton-Conover on the 12th.
