Baseball Recap: Southwestern Victorious

While Southwestern's victory against Clarksville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rebels never let the Generals get on the board and left with a 2-0 win on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Generals: they've now won three in a row.

Austin Jenkins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 5.1 innings pitched. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Southwestern is undefeated when Jenkins posts two or more runs, but 2-6 otherwise.

Southwestern's win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Clarksville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.

Coming up, Southwestern will challenge Shawe Memorial at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rebels are facing the Hilltoppers at the right time seeing as the Hilltoppers are stuck on a 14-game losing streak. As for Clarksville, they will take on Crawford County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
