Basketball Preview: Enfield Eagles vs. Manchester Red Hawks
Enfield has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Manchester Red Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Enfield has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Even though Tolland scored an imposing 56 points on Tuesday, Enfield still came out on top. Enfield put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 82-56 victory.
Meanwhile, Manchester had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They walked away with a 68-61 win over Cheney RVT. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Chance Clark was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Quentin Ford was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Enfield's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points per game. As for Manchester, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.
Enfield didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Red Hawks when the teams last played back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 58-54 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Enfield since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
