Softball Recap: La Porte Takes a Loss

La Porte extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 7-9 in the process. They came up short against the Chesterton Trojans, falling 9-2. The Slicers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Trojans earlier this season, when they won 10-0.

La Porte saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shayla Sorg, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

As for Chesterton, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.

On Chesterton's side, the team relied heavily on Payton Cherep, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Cherep a new career-high. Lila Miller was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. La Porte will take on Elkhart at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Chesterton, they will welcome Hebron at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
