Baseball Game Preview: Fillmore Flashes vs. Channel Islands Raiders

For the second straight game, Fillmore will face off against Channel Islands. The Flashes will take on the Raiders at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Fillmore has three straight victories, Channel Islands has 12 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Wednesday, Fillmore was able to grind out a solid win over Channel Islands, taking the game 5-1.

Gabriel Magana made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Fillmore's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-11 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jared Jaimes, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was JJ Jasso, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Fillmore hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matchups.

Fillmore's record now sits at 3-11. As for Channel Islands, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.
