Basketball Recap: Spanish Fork Comes Up Short

Spanish Fork was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost to the Springville Red Devils on the road by a 56-41 margin. The Dons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Springville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bella Esplin, who posted 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals Esplin has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Florence, who went 5 for 10 en route to 15 points.

Spanish Fork's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Springville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spanish Fork will square off against Cedar Valley at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Springville, they will face off against Timpview at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
