Avery County hasn't had much luck against NCSSM: Morganton recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Avery County Vikings will take on the NCSSM: Morganton Dragons at 5:00 p.m. Avery County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.5 goals per game this season.

Avery County will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals last Thursday, then bounced right back against North Wilkes on Wednesday. Avery County never let North Wilkes get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. Avery County hasn't had any issues with North Wilkes recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Lily Flores and Caitlin Shapiro scored all seven of Avery County's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 11 goals.

Meanwhile, after soaring to four goals the game before, NCSSM: Morganton was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of East Henderson. The Dragons' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

The win got Avery County back to even at 2-2. As for NCSSM: Morganton, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Avery County might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from NCSSM: Morganton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can Avery County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
