Baseball Game Preview: University Christian Christians vs. St. Johns Country Day Spartans

For the second straight game, University Christian will face off against St. Johns Country Day. The Christians will venture away from home to challenge the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (University Christian 3.8, St. Johns Country Day 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

University Christian heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Monday. They came up short against St. Johns Country Day, falling 11-1. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Christians, who until this matchup were averaging 3.84 runs allowed.

For St. Johns Country Day's part, Brayden Harris made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Harris has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI.

The win was the eighth in a row for St. Johns Country Day, bringing their record up to 24-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for University Christian, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 21-10.

Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. University Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. However, it's not like St. Johns Country Day struggles in that department as they've averaged .316.
