The Bradenton Christian Panthers will take on the Parrish Community Bulls at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Bradenton Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Bradenton Christian will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy on Friday. Bradenton Christian put the hurt on Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy with a sharp 11-1 win. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
The team relied heavily on Waylon Moore, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Johnson, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Bradenton Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Parrish Community scored first but ultimately less than IMG Academy Black in their game on Friday. They came up short against the Ascenders, falling 14-4. The loss was the Bulls' first of the season.
Parrish Community also got a good showing from Vince Barry, who tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Barry has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Parrish Community saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Cripe, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Nate Whitehead was another, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Having lost for the first time this season, Parrish Community fell to 3-1. As for Bradenton Christian, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bradenton Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Parrish Community struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Bradenton Christian might still be hurting after the 13-0 loss they got from Parrish Community in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can Bradenton Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
