Softball Game Preview: Oxbridge Academy ThunderWolves vs. Palm Beach Central Broncos

The Oxbridge Academy ThunderWolves will face off against the Palm Beach Central Broncos at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Oxbridge Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They never let Calvary Christian Academy get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the ThunderWolves in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.

Riley Lyons was a standout: she scored two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Isabella LaForte, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Oxbridge Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calvary Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .077.

Meanwhile, Palm Beach Central posted their closest win since April 5, 2024 on Wednesday. They skirted past Cardinal Newman 5-3.

Kacie Riggan made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. Riggan was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kiah Haston, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Oxbridge Academy suffered a grim 27-13 defeat to Palm Beach Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Oxbridge Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
