Baseball Recap: Northwest Christian School Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win

Northwest Christian School came tearing into Saturday's game with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Kettle Falls Bulldogs with a sharp 8-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Crusaders, who have now won ten contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Preston Mortlock, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Adin Spuler, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Northwest Christian School pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Kettle Falls, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Northwest Christian School will square off against rival Chewelah at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Crusaders 3.3, the Cougars 1.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Kettle Falls is set to challenge their familiar foe Davenport at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
