Baseball Recap: Ralston Valley Starts off Right with Win over Boulder

Ralston Valley took care of business in their home opener on Wednesday. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Boulder Panthers. That's more bragging rights for the Mustangs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Grant Belcher tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Degan Gregory, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mason Gilbreth, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Ralston Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Boulder only posted a batting average of .226.

Looking ahead, Ralston Valley will be taking part in a tournament against Owyhee at 12:00 p.m. on March 20th. As for Boulder, they will venture away from home to square off against Centaurus at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Boulder has now lost seven straight dating back to last season, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 30.
