Forest Grove has gone 7-2 against Century recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Vikings will be playing in front of their home fans against the Jaguars at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Forest Grove will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Newberg on Wednesday. The Vikings put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 12-5 win. Considering the Vikings have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous four game, Century brought some dynamite into their most recent match. Everything went their way against Newberg on Friday as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The Jaguars not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 3rd (when they won 12-1).
Alyssa Loza made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Loza was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Avery Gonzalez was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Hailey Kinney was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Century hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 4-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Forest Grove's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Century, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-8.
Forest Grove was able to grind out a solid victory over Century when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 5-2. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Jaguars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
