Baseball Recap: Middle Park Wins Going Away Against Jefferson

Middle Park had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Jefferson on Saturday. The Panthers blew past the Saints 11-1. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Saints recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Theo Brown was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Middle Park is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-6 otherwise. Brown was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Cruze Hanson and Gunnar Bjerken did most of the damage at the plate: Hanson went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Bjerken got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI and one double. Those stolen bases marked the first that Hanson has snagged this season. Diogui Laynes was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Middle Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jefferson only posted an OBP of .182.

Middle Park's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-7. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Jefferson, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Middle Park beat the Saints by a score of 3-2 later that day.
