Milton has gone a perfect 4-0 against Pine Forest recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Milton proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 19) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Tate 9-8.
The team relied heavily on Savannah Gardner, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Alexis Hawthorne, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Pine Forest had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Stingrays. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won nine games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Jayonna Hillman made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Trennedi Rose was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season. Jaiden Jones was another key player, earning two runs and two stolen bases.
Milton is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Pine Forest, their record now sits at 10-6.
Everything went Milton's way against Pine Forest when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Milton made off with an 8-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
