Soccer Recap: Guilford Comes Up Short

Guilford lost against Boylan Catholic back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Vikings lost 7-0 to the Titans. While losing is never fun, Guilford can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 219th, while Boylan Catholic are ranked 53rd).

Guilford's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-11-1. As for Boylan Catholic, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 13-2-2.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Guilford will face off against Jacobs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Boylan Catholic, they will welcome Rochelle at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rochelle will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more goals each game than the last.
