Baseball Recap: Upland Sets Scoring Season-High Against Western Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Upland). They never let the Western Christian Fighting Lancers get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Wednesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Highlanders/Scots as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Dom Nava and Julian Zambrano did most of the damage at the plate: Nava scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Zambrano went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those two runs gave Nava a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carson Kinnick, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Upland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Upland's win bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Western Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Upland will take on Claremont at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Western Christian, they will face off against Capistrano Valley Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Fighting Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
