Baseball Game Preview: Sumter Gamecocks vs. Spring Valley Vikings

The Sumter Gamecocks are taking a road trip to take on the Spring Valley Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Spring Valley took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Sumter, who comes in off a win.

Last Thursday, Sumter got the win against Latta by a conclusive 11-5.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Spring Valley's offense. They fell just short of Irmo by a score of 1-0 on Monday.

Spring Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Smoak, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Smoak snagged this season.

Spring Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Sumter, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Sumter beat Spring Valley 8-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2019. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sumter since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
