Recap: North Brunswick Scorpions vs. West Brunswick Trojans
The North Brunswick Scorpions can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They breezed by West Brunswick on the road to the tune of 76-49. Given North Brunswick's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while West Brunswick is ranked 348th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
North Brunswick got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Matthew McKenny out in front who scored 15 points. Kane Jenrette was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.
Despite the defeat, West Brunswick had strong showings from Johnathan Daniels, who scored 16 points, and Royce Metters, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Tristen Roberts, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
North Brunswick has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. As for West Brunswick, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-15.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Brunswick will take on Laney at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Brunswick knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Laney likes a good challenge. As for West Brunswick, they will be playing at home against New Hanover at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in New Hanover's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 12 contests.
