Softball Recap: Desales Snags 11th Victory in Last 12 Games

DeSales barely beat Warden the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Irish's pitcher stepped up to hand the Cougars a 14-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Irish might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Abi Guest made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Theresa Holtzinger was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Linley Donnelly was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

DeSales has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-1-1 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.1 runs. As for Warden, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: DeSales beat the Cougars by a score of 15-5 later that day.
