Baseball Recap: Sayre Comes Up Short

Sayre extended their losing streak to ten on Saturday, dropping them down to 1-10. They lost 11-1 to the Cowanesque Valley Indians. If the Redskins were looking for revenge after losing 10-0 to the Indians when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Cowanesque Valley, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games.

For Cowanesque Valley's part, Hunter Simonds was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs Simonds has posted since back in March. William Kies was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Coming up, Sayre is taking a road trip to challenge Wyalusing Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Cowanesque Valley, they have already played their next contest, a 7-4 win against Northern Potter on the 18th.
