Recap: Sierra Vista Mountain Lions vs. Green Valley Gators
On Friday, The Sierra Vista Mountain Lions faced the Green Valley Gators in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Sierra Vista fell 26-13 to Green Valley. Sierra Vista was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Green Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2018.
When it comes to explaining why Sierra Vista lost, one person who can't be blamed is Adonis Vaughn. Despite the final result, he picked up 108 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Vaughn was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards.
Green Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jack Thow, who rushed for 14 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 165 yards and a touchdown. Green Valley also got help from Trey Glasper who showed off his sure hands for 88 receiving yards.
Sierra Vista's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Green Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
Sierra Vista will head out on the road to face off against Green Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Green Valley is ranked 16th, while Sierra Vista is ranked 19th). As for Green Valley, they will play host again and welcome Sierra Vista, where Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
