Baseball Recap: Kerens Extends Road Winning Streak to 15

Kerens waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the LaPoynor Flyers an 11-0 shutout. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Krayton Ritchie was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Kerens let Kooper Hill and Andy Conklin run wild. Hill scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Conklin scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Hill has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Rickard, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Kerens was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Kerens' victory was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for LaPoynor, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.

Kerens will have a chance to go back-to-back against LaPoynor: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
