Softball Recap: Empire Takes Down Tanque Verde in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Empire rose to the challenge on Friday. They never let the Tanque Verde Hawks get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Ravens have posted since April 8th.

The result came thanks to Kendall Freidinger's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 21 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Empire secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Kapri Tiggas, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

The win was the fifth in a row for Empire, bringing their record up to 27-1. As for Tanque Verde, they moved to 26-6 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Empire didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 1-0 victory against Yuma Catholic on the 12th. Tanque Verde does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
