Preview: Southern Wells Raiders vs. Adams Central Flying Jets
Southern Wells is 2-8 against Adams Central since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Southern Wells Raiders will head out on the road to take on the Adams Central Flying Jets at 7:30 p.m. Southern Wells is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Southern Wells suffered their biggest defeat since November 22, 2023 on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 47-20 loss at the hands of Bluffton. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Southern Wells has scored all season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Perrin Gates, who scored seven points along with two steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Southern Wells struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Adams Central had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.6 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They blew past Heritage 74-43 on the road. Adams Central has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Southern Wells has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Adams Central, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
Southern Wells was dealt a bruising 80-38 defeat at the hands of Adams Central in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Southern Wells avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
