Football Recap: Crowley County Skates Past Custer County with Ease

Crowley County won the last time they faced Custer County and things went their way on Friday too. The Chargers blew past the Bobcats, posting a 58-20 victory. Considering the Chargers have won four contests by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Crowley County found their leader in freshman Levi Gibson, who rushed for 177 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry, and also picked up 37 receiving yards and one TD. Gibson has become a key player for the Chargers: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.

The win was the fourth in a row for Crowley County, bringing their record up to 4-3. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.0 points on average over those games. As for Custer County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crowley County will take on Sangre de Cristo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Chargers will be up against the Thunderbirds' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.71 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Custer County, they will challenge Hoehne at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bobcats' defense better be ready for this one: the Farmers have averaged an impressive 30.9 points per game this season.
