Softball Recap: Mid Valley Takes a Loss

Saturday just wasn't the day for Mid Valley's offense. They fell just short of the Tunkhannock Tigers by a score of 1-0 on Saturday. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Spartans' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Ava Hazelton was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. What's more, she gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in March.

Mid Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 11-1-1. As for Tunkhannock, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Mid Valley will square off against Honesdale at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hornets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.45 runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Tunkhannock, they will face off against Williamsport at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
