Softball Recap: Lee Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Lee had lost four straight, but after bumping their record up to 6-11 on Saturday that streak is in the rearview. They put the hurt on the Hitchcock Bulldogs with a sharp 11-1 victory. Considering the Ganders' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

The team relied heavily on Emily Sistos, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Janesa Coronel, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Lee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .720. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hitchcock only posted an OBP of .471.

As for Hitchcock, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6. The contest marked their lowest-scoring game so far this season.

On Hitchcock's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabby Torres, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Edyn Diehl also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Coming up, Lee will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Port Arthur Memorial at 6:00 p.m. Hitchcock has already played their next matchup (against Sabine Pass), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
