Baseball Game Preview: Anderson C Cavaliers vs. Augusta E Eagles

The Anderson C Cavaliers will venture away from home to face off against the Augusta E Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Last Monday, Anderson C beat Asheville T 11-7. The Cavaliers haven't had any issues with the Trailblazers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Augusta E entered their tilt with Georgia School for Innovation & Classics on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 11-3 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by seven runs or more this season.

Eli Poteet and Jaiden Jacobsen made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Poteet tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Jacobsen tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Poteet also tossed a walk, which is notable because Augusta E is 6-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-5 otherwise. At the plate, Poteet scored a run while going 1-for-5, while Jacobsen scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Jacobsen is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooks Valencia, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Sean Gerdes also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Augusta E always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Georgia School for Innovation & Classics only posted an OBP of .333.

Augusta E's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Anderson C, their record now sits at 5-3.
