Soccer Recap: Hayward Takes a Loss

Hayward and Baldwin-Woodville pushed the score to 7-1 the last time they played Baldwin-Woodville, but on Thursday defenses reigned supreme. The Hurricanes took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blackhawks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Hayward of the 7-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Hayward's loss dropped their record down to 2-9-4. As for Baldwin-Woodville, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Hayward will square off against Rice Lake on Thursday. Rice Lake's last four games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Baldwin-Woodville, they will challenge Melrose-Mindoro on Thursday. Baldwin-Woodville are facing Melrose-Mindoro at the right time seeing as Melrose-Mindoro are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
