Baseball Game Preview: Silver Stage Nighthawks vs. Battle Mountain Longhorns

Silver Stage is 1-9 against Battle Mountain since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Silver Stage Nighthawks will host the Battle Mountain Longhorns at 3:00 p.m. Silver Stage knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Battle Mountain likes a good challenge.

Silver Stage's tournament run continued when they took on Excel Christian on Friday. Silver Stage fell just short of Excel Christian by a score of 12-11. The loss was the Nighthawks' first of the season.

Silver Stage saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Manny Gonzalez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Another was Marvin Ramirez, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Silver Stage always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .600 or higher in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Battle Mountain's offense. They fell 4-0 to Yerington on Saturday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 26, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Having lost for the first time this season, Silver Stage fell to 3-1. As for Battle Mountain, their defeat was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2.
