Recap: Beaufort Academy Eagles vs. Bethesda Academy
The Beaufort Academy Eagles''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 34-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bethesda Academy. Beaufort Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Bethesda Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Beaufort Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Zeke Gonzalez, who picked up 50 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Dietrich Shuford, who threw for 165 yards and three touchdowns.
Even if they lost, Beaufort Academy's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Bethesda Academy's QB won't forget Tripp Gregory anytime soon given Gregory sacked him four times.
Bethesda Academy had a senior duo take command as Noah Jenkins rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries and Triston Randall threw for 147 yards and two touchdowns. Raleigh Wesley made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Beaufort Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for Bethesda Academy, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Beaufort Academy will take on Orangeburg Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Orangeburg Prep is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Bethesda Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Greenwood Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Greenwood Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Friday.
