Recap: Stephens County Indians vs. Carver Panthers

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Stephens County Indians had no problem doing just that on Friday. They strolled past Carver with points to spare, taking the game 31-13. The win was just what Stephens County needed coming off of a 37-6 defeat in their prior contest.

Javin Gordon was on fire: he rushed for 197 yards and three touchdowns. Gordon was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Stephens County's defense and their seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Solomon Dupree and Aidan Butts who racked up six sacks between them.

Stephens County has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 10-2 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.7 points per game. As for Carver, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Stephens County will look to defend their home field on Friday against Wesleyan at 7:30 p.m. Wesleyan will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. Carver does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
