Basketball Recap: Oak Grove Comes Up Short

Oak Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 57-31 to the Brandon Bulldogs. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 66-30 on January 7th.

Braylon Barnes was his usual excellent self, putting up 27 points in addition to five boards and three steals for Brandon. Barnes' evening made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Josiah Jackson was another key player, earning six points and three steals.

Oak Grove's loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Brandon, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oak Grove will take on Wayne County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Brandon, they will face off against Meridian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Brandon is on a four-game streak of home wins, Meridian a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
