Volleyball Recap: New Caney Comes Up Short

New Caney was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Conroe Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 on Saturday.

New Caney actually scored more points across those five sets (109-98), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 27-25, 14-25, 28-26, 14-25, 15-8.

Conroe's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sarah Allen, who had 17 digs and one assist. Those 17 digs gave Allen a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Ballinger, who had 15 digs.

New Caney's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Conroe, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-8 record.

Coming up, New Caney will take on Sachse in a tournament on Thursday. As for Conroe, they will be taking part in a tournament against East Bernard at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday.
