Basketball Recap: Valdosta Snaps 11-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Valdosta entered their game against Tift County on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Valdosta Wildcats fell 47-34 to the Tift County Blue Devils. The match marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Valdosta lost, don't look at Jabarri Williams. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 14 on his way to 20 points.

Tift County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cordell Nelson led the charge by going 5 of 9 en route to 10 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was JJ Lamar, who posted 13 points and six boards.

Valdosta's defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-8. As for Tift County, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-5.
