Baseball Game Preview: Homestead Mustangs vs. Mountain View Spartans

For the second straight game, Homestead will face off against Mountain View. The Mustangs will host the Spartans at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Homestead 3.6, Mountain View 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Homestead fell victim to Mountain View and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 1-0. The Mustangs' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

For Mountain View's part, the result came thanks to Jaeden Pietrofeso's shutout, as he gave up just three hits. Pietrofeso has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mountain View saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Xu, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Mountain View and bumps their season record up to 11-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Homestead, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.
