Basketball Recap: Wapato Makes It Eight in a Row at Home

Wapato's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 63-51 win over the Connell Eagles. Given the Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Eagles are ranked 219th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wapato pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.4 points per game. As for Connell, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wapato will challenge College Place at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Wapato is facing College Place at the right time seeing as College Place is stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Connell, they will face off against Cashmere at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Cashmere knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Connell likes a good challenge.
