Football Recap: Jesus Arellano Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Loara

Century's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They snuck past the Loara Saxons with a 26-21 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Centurions also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Century to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jesus Arellano, who rushed for 195 yards, and also picked up 59 receiving yards. Those 195 rushing yards gave Arellano a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ramon Toribio, who rushed for 19 yards and three TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Century was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 215 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive contests.

Loara's loss came despite strong showings from Santiago Caudillo and Ariel Olvera. Caudillo rushed for 85 yards and a pair of scores, while Olvera rushed for 89 yards on only ten carries. Lukwin Cruz was in the mix as well, providing the Saxons with one touchdown.

Century now has a winning record of 3-2-1. As for Loara, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Century will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Magnolia at 6:30 p.m. on the 9th. The game will give the Centurions their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Loara, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-21 loss against Anaheim on the 3rd.
