Baseball Game Preview: Kelso Hilanders vs. Mountain View Thunder

For the second straight game, Kelso will face off against Mountain View. The Hilanders will be playing at home against the Thunder at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kelso's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Mountain View's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Kelso is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Mountain View just ended the team's 12-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Thunder by a score of 8-7.

For Mountain View's part, Brendon Lawson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Lawson was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brody Fellows, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Logan Josephsen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Mountain View's victory bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Kelso, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 14-3.
