Baseball Game Preview: Academy for Academic Excellence Knights vs. Academy of Careers & Exploration Eagle

For the second straight game, Academy for Academic Excellence will face off against Academy of Careers & Exploration. The Knights will be playing at home against the Eagle at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Academy for Academic Excellence knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Academy of Careers & Exploration likes a good challenge.

Academy for Academic Excellence hadn't beaten Academy of Careers & Exploration on the road since February 26, 2019 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Knights were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Eagle. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.

Bryson Lilly was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Lilly was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

In other batting news, Conner Clancy was a standout: he scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Aiden Carmona was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4.

Academy for Academic Excellence is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Academy of Careers & Exploration, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-7.
