Softball Game Preview: Benjamin Russell Wildcats vs. Auburn Tigers

Benjamin Russell hasn't had much luck against Auburn recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Benjamin Russell Wildcats take on Auburn Tigers at 6:45 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Benjamin Russell fell victim to Pleasant Valley and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Raiders, falling 6-0. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Auburn faced Sparkman in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Auburn took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sparkman.

Abigail Helms was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. Peyton Fitzgerald also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Benjamin Russell's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8-1. As for Auburn, their loss dropped their record down to 11-4.

Benjamin Russell suffered a grim 11-5 defeat to Auburn in their previous meeting back in February. Can Benjamin Russell avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
