Baseball Recap: Peoria Takes a Loss

Peoria had lost nine straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-13 to make it ten. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cactus Cobras. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cobras earlier this season, when they won 10-6.

Peoria saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dominick Ramirez, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Cactus, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-16 record this season. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-13 Peoria and 8-13 Westview (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36.5% over those games).

On Cactus' side, Eli Torres made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Torres has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Phoenix Huisinga was excellent, earning one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Cactus is 5-1 when Huisinga posts two or more runs, but 3-15 otherwise.

Peoria wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 14-13 loss against Westview on the 23rd. As for Cactus, they have also already played their next game, a 14-2 defeat against Estrella Foothills on the 23rd.
