Preview: Comfort Bobcats/Deer vs. Taft Greyhounds
The Comfort Bobcats/Deer will face off against the Taft Greyhounds at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, while Comfort put up plenty of points, the same can't be said for South San Antonio West. Comfort blew past South San Antonio West, posting a 51-0 win at home. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Comfort's seven-point performance the contest before.
Meanwhile, Taft entered their tilt with George West with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Taft enjoyed a cozy 50-34 win over George West on Friday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Taft relied on the efforts of Enrique Rodriguez, who picked up 296 receiving yards and five touchdowns, and JJ Acosta, who threw for 466 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 12.9 yards per attempt. Acosta has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last five times he's played.
Comfort's win bumped their record up to 5-5. As for Taft, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-4.
Comfort suffered a grim 38-14 defeat to Taft in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Thankfully for Comfort, Josh Suarez (who picked up 121 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
