Softball Game Preview: Lake Blue Streaks vs. Steele Comets

The Lake Blue Streaks will take on the Steele Comets at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

The home team had won the previous seven meetings between Lake and Hoover, and Hoover kept the tradition alive. The Blue Streaks fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 8-7 on Wednesday. The Blue Streaks' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Gianna Greathouse put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over eight innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off 11 hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run.

In other batting news, Olivia Draher made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Eisele, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Steele entered their tilt with Olmsted Falls on Thursday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 10-6.

Lake's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Steele, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.
